Well, new to the web, anyway.

First Person Imperfect

What if Fraser had met Ray Kowalski when he first came to Chicago?

First times, missing scene from the Pilot. Nominated for Huggy Award for Best Zine Story 2003. First published in Duet 2 from Duet Press, Slash, NC-17, 9,200 words, Written Fall 2001

Fire bad, tree pretty, feedback good.

Oh, I liked that. A lot.

I liked your version of Fraser--rather different that the interpretation you usually see in fic, but it still works, and I think fits well with the Fraser we see in the Pilot.

I loved the condoms. Again, it's a element you don't see much in fic--or at least not described in this much detail. I'm not one who believes that all fictional sex must be safe sex, but it's a refreshing change to see the issue addressed occasionally. Plus I think I learned a few things...

Thanks for putting this online. I really enjoyed it. It's hot, your Ray is wonderful, and the Fraser interpretation is refreshingly different. And it's certainly a justifiable interpretation. I love how Ray's prediction about how they'll meet again comes true. :)

I think you're right. Fraser was also much less innocent in the first incarnation of the series. It was very clearly shown that his apparent naivete was mostly an act. Even later, with RayK, once in a while that not-so-pure Fraser peeks out. For example, when he slams Orsini with the car door, or when he plays Denny Scarpa to find out what she's really after.

As for Fraser and RayK both being into guys? You can make an excellent case for that; both of them exhibit behavior that isn't "normal" for two guys who are totally straight. Nobody here probably needs me to give examples. :)

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] j_s_cavalcante, the ending is wondeful.

First I had big trouble believing that the Fraser you were describing was really our Fraser, but the more I read, the more it worked.

Wow. I'm so glad you put this online.

It's such a different approach to Fraser than what I usually read, but just as good. I especially adore the ending;)
