Hello everybody, over at

ds_flashback we are compiling a list of broken links to the recced wonderful fic over there. Please consider helping out here finding these fics to preserve the comm as a resource for current and future fans.

If you are a new fan,

ds_flashback is a community which ran weeks of reccing "classic" or underappreciated fic in 2003 and 2004. There are a ton of cool fics waiting to be read!

Our policy is this, preferably we'd like live AO3 links because of the convenient download option and the tagging. I'll take other archives or sites of course, if such a link doesn't exist. Just know, that in the fic listed in the entry above, AO3 is the first place we checked (and the huge imported Due South Archive there).

I've seen a couple of author names in the memberlist of this comm that probably know way more about the authors of those fics and if they have moved on, or possibly where they have moved on the web. (Or if they've taken down their site for a specific reason) Please let us know!

dance_across has written some interesting takes on Frannie, Thatcher and Victoria, and their relationships with Fraser, sometimes in the context of F/K

mrs_d has been writing F/K and some other things, including a Thatcher backstory piece and (most recently) a lovely Captain America crossover -- a mix of comedy and drama

Arwyn started with a series of photo-and-text stories about Lego RayK & Fraser (in collaboration with hereeatthiskitten), and has lately expanded into a comedic F/K kink series and a sweet & interesting first-time F/K fic.

Check out these new authors and encourage them to keep writing!

P.S.: mods -- something odd happened with tags; the tag set offered me ds.fic: fk.2015, but then when I tried to use the tag, LJ rejected it. Not sure what's up with that.

During the recent chat for the C6D Big Bang, somebody mentioned being interested in reading more post-CotW stories written from RayV's POV with Fraser/RayK as the pairing, and so I put together a list here. If there are any I've left out, feel free to mention them in the comments!

Hey everyone! I'm reccing for Due South this month on

crack_van, but there's no one signed up after me to rec in May. Due South is a permanent staple on

crack_van, but we can't keep up our 10 year streak of always having reccers, then we'll lose that honor. This is a great way to contribute to the due South community, and first time drivers and recs from fandom newbies are always welcome! The posting guidelines are here if you want to get an idea of what driving the Crack Van is all about, and

luzula and

akamine_chan have put a lot of work into collating all 880 recs made over the last ten years our pinboard account so you can easily see what's been recced in the past. The requirements are basically to make 4-12 recommendations during the month of stuff that hasn't been recced before. It's low stress, low intensity, and a lot of fun.

If this sounds like something you can do, please consider signing up to drive the due South sled!

ETA: Cool, we have a May driver! But keep those sign-ups coming. We'd like a nice long list of comments from future dS reccers! =)

I've imported the delicious account with bookmarks of due South recs at

crack_van to Pinboard: here it is. Pinboard has tag bundles, so I've bundled the tags by author, vidder, reccer, pairing, character, month recced, crossover fandom, and miscellaneous other tags. I've also bookmarked the backlog of recs since August, and will be more timely with that in the future.

I hope the account will be useful if 1) you are reccing for

crack_van and want to know if a fic/pairing/author has been recced before, or 2) you are looking for recs in general! If you forget the account name, it's linked from the sidebar in my journal.

I know the tags aren't ideal as they are (for example, the pairing tags don't use both first and last name, and it might be more clear if they said "author:luzula" rather than just "luzula"), but there's a limit to my energy, and it's a lot of work to change that now. Nevertheless, if you have feedback about the bookmarks, please do tell me, and I will do my best to take it into account!

Hey hey! We've dragged someone else into writing dS fanfic. :) My son's just posted his first every story on AO3, and it's funny, cracky stuff. http://archiveofourown.org/works/506341 It's the longest fanfic he's ever written, and any encouragement would be welcome, since he's currently writing a longer, angstier story, with both Rays, set post COTW, which he's more nervous about.

I'm really pleased with him, and it's nice to have a member of the male persuasion in the fandom. Yay!

I just read something which, pretty much, nearly killed me with laughter. Fraser, RayK mooning over each other, Bob giving hilariously inane advice and stuck in line at the DMV, Dief and a marsupial pursuing each other through Chicago and stopping off for pastries while taking in the odd show (the very odd show... Romeo and Juliet are stoned)... and I won't tell you where they found the gun. Comedy greatness.

So when Dief jumped out of the car, Ray was distracted by Johnny, Fraser was distracted by Ray's distraction, and neither of them noticed the kangaroo. By the time they did, it was too late."

I am reccing at

crack_van in August, and you can check out my recs here. There's someone signed up for September, but after that it's empty, so do sign up! You only have do to a minimum of eight recs during a month.

Also, I have updated the crack van Delicious, which

akamine_chan used to maintain, and which I currently maintain. Sorry I was behind on it! Its purpose is 1) to be a general recs resource and 2) for crack van reccers to be able to check which fics have been recced before, and whether an author/pairing/whatever is underrepresented at crack van, etc. I've added a link to it in the side bar of my journal, so you can find it more easily.

Would it be of more use if I moved it to Pinboard instead? I didn't use Delicious much before it went weird, and still don't, so I don't know which functionalities people might miss. What I use it for is basically 1) sort tags alphabetically, 2) click on author or pairing tag, and 3) see what stories have been recced, and for that purpose it works the way it is. But please do give me feedback on what would be useful for you!
