Reposting this post from yesterday made by [personal profile] flamingoslim:

I have a stash of due South slash zines I'd like to rehome. The creator, Rosemary (AKA tiranog) published this Fraser/Vecchio zine -- title "Thank You, Kindly" -- in 2000. Rosemary was my housemate and passed away in 2018. I found 8 copies of this zine, originals, that she never sold, and would love to find homes for them. I'm only asking for postage. If anyone is interested in a copy, please write me directly at flamingoslim at ourlakehouse dot net.

I started a private Facebook group called “Due South Duet: Fraser/Kowalski Slash” to see if that’s something F/K fans might need at this juncture. It's only been running for a couple of weeks, but it looks pretty promising, with people arriving from Tumblr and from the public dS group on FB, telling me that a private place where it's easy to have conversations is very much needed in this fandom. I hope I can reach some more people here: the more old and new F/K fans we can gather to one place, the more likely it is that we can have ourselves an active, inspiring and helpful community. I really wish it could happen on a non-commercial platform such as DW, but Facebook, even with all its faults, just happens to work better right now.*

Please read the group description (which includes the group rules) and if it sounds like your cup of bark tea, hit JOIN and answer the three membership questions (I need those answers to see that it's a real F/K fan and not a random FB spammer or a curious outsider who's trying to join the group). Here’s the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2803028979975698

*About Facebook and fandom: In my experience (mostly from the Starsky & Hutch fandom), FB is currently one of the best platforms for fan communities to thrive - not perfect, but very good: many people already have an account there, one can share all kinds of content without being tech-savvy, and daily participation is fun and easy even with mobile devices. The groups enable lengthy in-depth discussions as well as spur-of-the-moment frivolity - very much like old time LJ. If you’re worried about privacy: not even your FB friends can see if you’re a member of a private group or see what you say there (unless, of course, your friends are members of the same group). Also, private groups can never be switched to public, not even by the admins. And of course, it's always possible to create an account on FB just for fannish purposes and not use your real name. That's what I and many others have done.

A compilation of due South communities and fandom-focused things across a lot of different platforms. Please let me know if I missed anything! These are all collected on my Dreamwidth (barring the links at the bottom, from Pillowfort on), and these entries should all be accessible to everyone.

Hey dS noticeboard! I'm working on putting together a communally-generated Frannie Vecchio playlist! It will be kind of like the Ray Vecchio playlist the dS Virtual Bar made a few years back, although I may use youtube and spotify instead of 8tracks this time around.

If you have any songs for Frannie, please send them to me so I can put them in the playlist! I’ll credit you for contributing to it ^_^

Any dS fan, regardless of whether they're a part of this comm or whether I know them, should feel free to send me song suggestions!

I've been staggering posts about this in various places so I didn't get a bunch of songs all pouring in at once, so you may have already seen a post about this on the dSVB comm, on tumblr, or on discord.

I'm new to DreamWidth (and relatively new to dueSouth, but I'm smitten). I've been around tumblr forever as WriteDragon where I've posted quite a bit of original artwork and edits. Looking forward to becoming a part of this community and continuing to enjoy fandom --

Guys, I came across this on Tumblr. Copy pasted from their website www.rcw139.org:

Saddle up your travelling shoes. 2019 will mark the 25th anniversary of Due South, and five years since RCW 139: Thank You Kindly, an incredible event that drew over 100 people from nine countries to Toronto. We think it's time to get together again. We're therefore very excited to announce the RCW 139 Reunion Event, which will take place in August 2019, in Toronto, of course!

If any of you have been to past events like this I‘d appreciate some reviews of how this went.

Hello all you lovely people!

I am looking for a beta-listener for my big bang project: 3 Slings & Arrows podfics: Inclusively Players (Geoffrey/Darren, about 2 hours long), 10 (or 12) Plays in the Life of Geoffrey Tennant (Geoffrey & Oliver, Geoffrey/Ellen with some Geoffrey/Darren and Geoffrey/Oliver, about 1 hour) and The Heir of My Invention (Ellen & Oliver, Geoffrey/Ellen with some Geoffrey/Oliver, about 1 hour).

I'm mostly looking for the equivalent of a spelling-and-grammar check: a fresh ear to tell me where I've misspoken, the volume levels are weird, there's background noise, etc.  But feedback at the sentence/scene level is also welcome.

Any assistance would be much appreciated!  And if you're not up for 4 hours of material but would be willing to do just one of the pieces, that would still be a big help!

Hi folks!

This may be an attempt to close the barn door after the horse has left, but...

Are you currently owning/maintaining due South/C6D-related LJ/DW comms that are still active, or that you want preserved for posterity?  Are you are not active in the fandom and/or LJ/DW any more, or finding yourself drifting away?  If the answer to both these questions is "yes," please consider finding someone who is still active to pass on your admin permissions to.

This is in no way an attempt to push anyone out of a task they still enjoy doing. :)  Merely a plea to help those of us who remain retain the ability to administer comms as needed.

With heartfelt thanks to all admins past, present and future for your work in support of all of our play.

I'm trying to reach them regarding administration of the ds-snippets comm.  LJ and Tumblr messaging don't seem to be effective...if anyone listening here is in direct contact with omphale23 and would be willing to put me in touch, I'd appreciate it!  (Reply via personal message, please.)

I got to this a bit late, due to work, illness, and technical difficulties (with my phone, mind you). But, here's my contribution to RayV Day 2016. )

Told you the Riv would get into it! ;)

Okay, so not quite a year yet, but close; close enough to share a few highlights. )

(PS: Feel free to hit me up if you need Riv reference for a fic, either by commenting here or sending an LJ-message.)

Hello, LJ/DW fans!  (We few, we proud...)

We haven't been seeing much traffic over at [livejournal.com profile] ds_snippets, so the mods are taking stock to decide whether to keep running the weekly challenges or regretfully close up shop.

If you have opinions on this topic, please join in the discussion.  (And hey, while you're over there, how about writing a snippet based on one of this week's prompts? :) )

People, MARCH 11th! How do dueSers celebrate? With joy and creativity! Everything to be preserved for Happy Posterity on AO3 - contact me if you need help with that.

We already have people signed up to create fanworks - join us in taking over the world. (Or at least our little corner of the internet.)

The only creative rule is that there are no rules. (Or Schroedinger's Rule, if you will.) Create anything and everything you so desire.

We few, we happy few - we band of brothers! Let us write! Let us paint! Let us knit! Let us bake cookies! Let us do whatever makes our silly little hearts glad, and share it for the greater honour of due South - this March 11th!

Well, since I've now got a Riv, it only seemed like the logical progression of things to do up a RayV cosplay for Halloween this year. ;) Debuted at a gathering of Browncoat-DueSers a couple of weeks ago:

Hi, I'm looking for fellow Italian Due South fans.
To commiserate, if nothing else. :D
You see, me and my brother used to watch the show together and I thought of purchasing the DVD's as a gift for him but can you believe there isn't an edition of the Italian dubbed version available on DVD, only a VHS one?
As for myself, I'd have no problem doing a rewatch in the original English (in fact, I may just do it, one of these days) but I can't very well re-watch it with my brother that way!
And I don't have a VHS recorder any more so that's out of the question. Anyway, I kind of hate the concept of having to resort again to VHS's, you know? I thought that period of my life was over. :D
It's just so frustrating! I mean, for once in my life that I was prepared to fork over some actual money instead of resorting to somewhat less legit ways... *shakes head*
Talking about less legit ways, technically there are some digital files going around the Internet of the Italian edition, only they're obviously converted from VHS and the audio is terrible. Plus, they're kind of hard to find, maybe because the series is so old.
Sigh, all this makes me kind of feel like me are my brother and the only ones left still enjoying that show here in Italy. Even if, logically, I know there have to be several fellow Italian fans around. If nothing else, I'm sure Italian tv didn't do all those re-runs for nothing LOL. Which is why I'm making this post (as per [livejournal.com profile] ride_4ever's kind suggestion over at [livejournal.com profile] sholio's Ray Vecchio Squee Party) .
So... is anyone here in the same boat as me? ;)

Also, mods, I hope I tagged this post correctly!

Some of us are busily working on dS/C6D Big Bang projects, but the rest of the fandom on LJ and DW is pretty quiet lately.

I'd like to invite and encourage all of you to drop by the snippet comm and talk about what would inspire you to come out and play and create and have fun with our fandom and other fen.

In lieu of the Canadian 6 Degrees Midsummer Santa gift exchange, which is on hiatus this year, I'll be hosting some festivities in July to celebrate C6D.

1) For those of you who, like me, have a hard drive full of WIPs and could use a kick in the butt concrete deadline to help you finish them, consider July your C6D WIP Amnesty month.  This will be an informal fest like some of the mini-fests we've had this year.  I'll post at [livejournal.com profile] c6d_universe at the beginning of the month, where anyone who posts a WIP during July can comment with a link to their fanwork; at the end of the month, I'll compile a master post.

2) For those who enjoy prompts & challenges, [livejournal.com profile] ride_4ever and I will be running a C6D Cross-Time Saloon snippet fest over at [livejournal.com profile] ds_snippets/[community profile] dsc6dsnippets.  Join in some goofy fun with one-liners, snippets, and round-robins about what happens when your favorite characters from C6D fandoms encounter each other in a bar... More details as we nail 'em down.

3) And don't forget the Due South/C6D Prompt Meme, which will be open in July as it always is.  People have been busy with lots of other projects lately, so we haven't had much action over there -- but this is a great excuse to wander over and fill a prompt!

So, get ready for some C6D fun in July!  Bring your friends -- especially those on Tumblr who might not know about these events if you don't tell them. :)
