Notes: I started this story well over a year and a half ago in celebration of DS's 20th anniversary, and it is finally completed. This is a labour of love for a fandom that has meant worlds more to me than any fandom I've ever taken part in. So, the folks in due South don't actually have special powers, Stetson of Invulnerability aside. But what if?

What if they were born with powers, abilities, or attributes beyond human? What if they woke up to a "choosing" of some sort from capricious gods or aliens or fae?

Who would get what powers if things were fair? Who would overcome harmful abilities and figure out how to use them for good? Who would totally use levitation to drop people's pants around their ankles? Who should never, ever, under ANY circumstances get super speed? Who can fly and how do they do it?

Choose a character from dS or another part of the C6D multiverse. Talk about their powers, how they got them, and what they do with them. Disagree with other people if you like. (You can choose a character someone else has already done.)

Alternatively, rec fic or art here in which someone's got superpowers of some sort!

Happy 20th Anniversary, due South fandom! :D The poll results are in, and I'll be hosting the Pilot rewatch this Sunday, 27 April at 16.00EDT/20.00GMT (4PM EDT/8PM GMT) on Livestream.

My livestream channel is HERE. My understanding is that you should be able to participate in the chat by just coming up with a nickname; if that doesn't work, registering only takes a second, and is free. I'll be on there and have it up and running with a test episode or a mini-vid show or something about half an hour before we start, so we can work out any issues people might have. Also, if anybody wants to watch it and needs subtitles, just comment on this post and let me know.

I did post this earlier today on tumblr.
I’m putting up my wordsearch and since I know I’ll meet some of you in Toronto in August I thought I’d make it into a competition. There is a pair of my minimounties on the stake! I will May 1st after Paul’s b-day(don’t think the party will end before that will it???) draw a winner. If we meet in Toronto you’ll get your price then, otherwise I will send it to you in the mail. I'm a huge Ray Vecchio fan, and an even bigger Ray/Ray fan. As such, I am also utterly fascinated with the concept of Vecchio working undercover in Vegas, what he may have done there, and how (or whether) he survived it.

I think being a Ray/Ray fan and being a Vegas!Vecchio fan go hand in hand, because 99% of Ray/Ray fics naturally take place after Vecchio's back from Vegas and more often than not, they tend to allude to his time there and what effect it might have had on him.

As far as canon goes, we don't have a hell of a lot to work from, but I think that just works in our favor because it leaves the field wide open for fan interpretation.

Here is what canon gives us about Ray and the situation in Vegas:

Canon would have us believe that he comes out of the experience pretty well and heads off to Florida with Stella. FANS would have you believe that lasted about a day and a half. (Okay, maybe longer). They would also have you believe that Vecchio carries some pretty heavy scars from Vegas, which is far closer to what would likely have been the truth.

But that's the glory of the whole Vegas!Vecchio subplot - we don't know. We get to make it up. And fans, being the amazing people that they are make up some WONDERFUL STUFF.
