Awesome. It's probably one of the best, most complete fantasy novels I've ever read, and just plain cool to boot. But none of the sequels were ever as good, IMO :( I mean, they were still awesome, but.

And Bane? Coolest construct of a character ever. So... downright disturbing, but still. Intriguing? Hmm. I couldn't think of a better word there.

I actually thought Seeker's Mask was better than Chronicles (Compendium of the first two books).

I have ordered "Rathorn" (or whatever the title is. It has a rathorn in it anyway) and it should be here later this month!

*blinks* I hadn't considered that people could take it as being named after the character Bane. I had it taken from her list of titles "Jamethiel Priest's Bane, Fratricide, Tyr-ridan..." etc.

Really? God Stalk is probably my favourite of all three, probably because of the theology (^.^) and Tai-Tastigon itself. It's almost like a character all in itself, y'know?

Oh man, I'm currently insanely poor (damn education) and so it's on my christmas list. And I might be going a little crazy waiting for it. *makes desperate grabby hands at rathorn*

Hee. Well. I just find him interesting, so that's what I noticed. :p Even from a writers' standpoint.

Tyr-ridan. Man, I love P.C. to death, but sometimes she's a little heavy on the foreshadowing ;)

Yes, I ADORED God-Stalk for Tai-Tastigon. But Seeker's Mask, I loved for the insights into the Women's World. I have always been a sucker for understated power. And dude- OMG! Lesbian relationships as an ESTABLISHED form of family bonding. *blinks* I just... it fills me with glee.

I kind of love P.C's foreshadowing, because God-Stalk was writen in the 70's, published in the early 80's. And there's 10 years between that and Seeker's mask, and ANOTHER 10 years between that and Rathorn. You have to respect anyone who can build a world so damn COMPLEX and still be true to it 20 years later. Y'know. Without having it feel like an add-on written to make more money *coughAnneMcCaffreycough*

Rathorn was my present to myself for FINISHING the editing on the schmoop you just read.

I liked Bane better as a ghost. Rings made out of worms is an evocative image.

Also... is it just me, or is Kindrie the avatar of "That which creates"? He seems to be AWFULLY hard to kill. And he and Jame tend to do bad things to each other whenever they meet.

Yeah, that was pretty cool. But I'd just read Sherri S. Tepper's "Gate to Women's Country" or something of the sort right before that, so the whole idea was a little "meh" at the time. Maybe I should re-visit. God knows I've re-read the other two enough :p And haaaa, yes, glee-filling indeed. I had to go back and double check to make sure I hadn't mis-read all of that, because. Dude. Awesome.

She must seriously LIVE in that world or something. (*throws stones at Anne McCaffrey* although I *did* like the Dragonsong trilogy. Mmmm, music geekery.) But those gaps REALLY make me wish there was a fandom. Like whoah. Because seriously? There's some really cool stuff that could happen.

I dunno, I think I liked him best in that one scene in Lower Town: "Come down from the battlements, gore crow," or something. "Every time we meet, one of us ends up bleeding" etc? So very wry and hilarious and you almost forget OH YEAH he's a raving lunatic. Heh.

That's what I thought. And I'm thinking Torisen might be the third, but then that seems *almost* too simple. Hmm.

Sherri S. Tepper is sort of tainted for me by the fact that she hates men so damn much. I like her Marianne trilogy though. I just... people are people. I reserve the right to hate anyone on the basis of stupid, regardless of race, religion, colour or gender. *shrugs* I'm equal opportunity like that. *grin*

Hey, we should form a fandom of 2! Because, really: that world deserves it.

I do like some of Anne McCaffrey, but I have serious doubts about some of it too. And the latest in her Pern series is just *eyeroll* "Oh, you're reaching now."

And yes. Bane is SEXY in that scene. Before I realised it was incest, I was COMPLETELY wanting him and Jame to get together. And he's completely sane within his own parameters. The fact that those parameters include having his soul owned by a corrupt (and totally loony) priest is an explanation for all of it!

And No! The third is the mysterious Randir heir who disappeared. Because if the Randir matriach (and the Assassin's guild) tried to kill him and didn't succeed, well. He's another candidate. Look at P.C.'s foreshadowing and tell me you don't notice the parallel's between his history and Jame's.

Also, Tori is an ass. Just sayin'

*ahem* It has occurred to me that maybe the DS noticeboard isn't the best place for this discussion. I think I'm going to do a post on my LJ about the books. We can continue it there.
