Okay, okay, whoa; crazy morning. I have been asked in the wake of the closing of the
dsreporter to make an Admin post affirming the following points:
1) DS_Noticeboard eagerly welcomes ALL Due South stories in ALL genres (gen, het, slash) featuring ALL pairings. In this way, we will attempt to preserve the egalitarian spirit of the DSReporter.
2)DS_Noticeboard encourages people not only to post links to their own stories, DS news, or website updates but also to post links to stories they come across (which can be posted either as a rec or as a "hey, for your information" post.) In particular,
estrella30 has voiced the concern that newbies might need encouragement to crosspost here (where the Reporter just used to pick up stories indiscriminately.) So please--do your part to assure newbies or shy people that they should post, or just link their stories yourself. Mentoring is a fandom-wide responsibility, people!
3) An extra-special-shout-out-to-Vecchio people: "Hey! Vecchio-people! We want your stories! Please come post here! Pimp your friends!" (Ces deletes email that says: "It would just really suck if Noticeboard became another outlet for the 'those Kowalski ho's.'") So if this place becomes Kowalski-ho-central, we know who to blame. Bring the Italian, ok? Per piacere? Grazie!
4) An extra-special-shout-out-to-gen-and-het people: "We want your stories! Please come post here! Pimp your friends! We want to read gen stories and Fraser/Thatcher and all that. Do not fear the sweaty man love! DS Fans are pretty omnivorous!"
That's about it for now. Basically, I'm here to keep things on topic and clean, but the success of this place is up to y'all. Let me know if and how I can help!

Indexing! Organize memories
Date: 2004-08-21 08:51 am (UTC)A memories section organized, even broadly, by topic would be fantastic. It would also be a lot of work, and may well be beyond what you envision as the scope of a moderator. Having a different person responsible for each area would cut down on the work that a moderator would have to do, but that also brings in other issues (coordinating volunteers, assigning areas, making sure that they keep up with things, etc.) Either way, a lot of work. Indexing information is key to it usefulness, however, especially as the amount of information grows.
