"Oh, I think I have some idea," Geoff muses, leaning back in his chair. "Anything to rival my first three weeks of being called 'Lieutenant Tennant' -- which, if I recall correctly, was consistently accompanied by a stationwide round of snickering." Geoff shrugs, donning an expression of genuine confusion that Harding knows to be entirely false. "You'd think they'd never heard a rhyme before."

You're the one who wrote that wonderful Vigilante!Ray AU I found wandering through the archives in ds flashfiction, aren't you? I loved that! Did you ever write any more after Passing the Gun?

Honestly, I was just itching to see Fraser enlist Vigilante!Ray's assistance to bring down Muldoon after Ray Vecchio gets shot. After I read the last sentence of Passing the Gun I had this one vivid image leap into my head of Fraser standing in Ray's hotel room in Toronto mangling the Steson with nervous hands while saying, "I need your help to catch my mother's murderer- I have no official mandate here, and there's no one else I can ask..."

Really, loved that fic, absolutely loved it and I would have posted a comment on the flashfic community, but I didn't know- do comments posted to closed challenges still reach the recipients? Is there a time limit or something?

*G* I haven't written anymore after Passing the Gun, but I have plans for another large installment around the size that Visiting Hours was. It's taking a while, but it's coming along. :) I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed the AU! It's one of those things that I've invested far more energy than is generally wise into.

Hm -- I'll tell you a not!secret, since you're asking. Next installment is mainly going to be an altered Victoria's Secret, rather than an altered Call of the Wild. I'm not saying I won't get to CotW eventually, but I'm definitely not there yet.

(And in fact, authors do get comments after the challenge closes. There are a couple of challenges out there which lock comments after the challenge -- ds_seekritsanta springs to mind -- but usually they'll provide a link to someplace you can comment to and have the comment reach them. This would be because we are all attention-hungry. :))

*laughing wryly* Yeah, I know all about investing far more energy into an AU than is wise...

A Victoria's Secret with Vigilante!Ray, now there's an intriguing thought! Will there be sex, gratitious or otherwise? All that unacknowledged chemistry between Ray and Fraser is making me fidget and twitch with anticipation. Maybe a few longing looks, at least? *bats lashes* Pleeeease?

And thanks for the heads-up about how challenge comments work... ;)

Well, to be honest? I have no intention of putting slash into the vigilante AU -- at least not right now. There's too much plot that doesn't have anything to do with first-time romance, and it'll just overload and become a little too dense for me to write in an organized fashion, I think. Now, my usual method of putting slash in a plotty story is to first resolve the plot and then resolve the chemistry -- at least in this case, it'll be too risky to try those two simultaneously. Each half is way too complicated. So -- yeah, there'll be Ray-Fraser interaction, and I'm hoping the characterization will make sense. Aside from that, though, no slash in the immediate future; if it's there at all, it'll be in the last installment. :) Sowwwy.
