Title: Holiday: St. Patrick's Day
Author: Grey/Grey853
Fandom: Due South
Rating: Mature
Word Count: 7,050
Warnings: Alternate Universe-Canon Divergent, Holiday, St. Patrick's day, Emotional Angst, male slash
Summary: Ray and Fraser are tasked with keeping an alderwoman safe from death threats. Meanwhile, Ray is worried that Inspector Thatcher is working hard to ruin his relationship with Fraser.
Snippet:
″Ray? What have you done to your hair?″
Turning around from the bathroom mirror, Ray grinned at his partner who stood in the doorway. ″You like it?″
Fraser cocked his head to the side and stepped closer as he studied Ray’s new hairstyle. ″Well, it’s different.″
Ray lost his smile. Well, fuck. ″You don’t like it.″
Fraser ran his palm carefully back and forth over the tips of the green spikes, barely touching. ″I didn’t say that.″
″You don’t have to.″ Maybe going whole hog for the parade was a mistake. He probably should’ve said something first. He knew how Fraser was when it came to surprises. ″It’s not permanent. It’ll wash out in a couple of days.″
″I take it that it’s for the St. Patrick’s day celebrations.″
″Yeah. I do it every year.″ Ray turned back to the mirror, wiping away the last bit of shaving cream from his right cheek. He had to admit that the bright green hair did make him look a bit paler and a lot more freakish, sort of like he’d gone off like moldy cheese or something. ″It helps me blend into the crowd better. People go green-crazy for the parade.″
″So it would seem. It was just a shock.″
Ray did a final check and finger lift to finish it off with pizazz. ″I guess I should’ve warned ya, huh?″
Fraser gently cupped the nape of Ray’s neck. ″I’ll know what to expect next year.″
Ray grinned at that, glad that Fraser had so much faith in their relationship. A year, a decade, Ray planned for it to last forever. Apparently, so did Fraser.
