Apart from the fest, this is a great excuse to dust off and finish any long-languishing WIPs you may have hidden away. We'll be opening a special 20th anniversary AO3 collection for any and all fanworks posted in honor of the show turning 20.

I can do some pic spams! Do you have anything specific in mind? And I can livestream a group viewing of the pilot as well. (although that would be somewhat limited by my schedule, it would have to be later in the afternoon/evening, Eastern time)

Hooray! And, um, not really? Picspam can be themed or totally random OR you can turn it into a game where people have to reply in the comments with a matching photo of a different character or the same actor doing something similar in a different C6D show? Or something? Possibilities are endless. Whatever you think is fun -- and whatever you have time for. This can last through the weekend if people are still around to play.

Re viewing party: that works! And, actually, if the weekend would be better for you, that is also fine. Or doing multiple airings. If you could maybe give instructions for how to host something on livestream, then we could see about people in different areas/time zones hosting at different times.

Chiming in a day late & a dollar short... I have not had cycles to devote to thinking about this and am not sure what the next few weeks will look like, work-wise, so I'm reluctant to commit to anything I might not have the time to follow through on... :(

However: I think it would be great to have a meet-and-greet post, like there was in pacifi_cant when that ran a couple of years ago -- there are a whole bunch of new-this-year/crossing-over-from-tumblr folks active in the fandom right now, and I've been (vaguely) on the lookout for ways to promote people from different generations getting to know each other. Is your plan for the kickoff post to officially include a "hey, come introduce yourselves!" clause? If not, I could maybe volunteer to run a meet-and-greet post, if it's okay that "run" might not end up meaning more than "make the post and keep an eye out for crises requiring moderator intervention"... (If someone else wanted to do a more active job of running such a thing, I'd be just as happy to let them; but I'm volunteering here on the principle of "don't request anything you're not willing to make happen." :) )

Another thing I'm probably not willing to volunteer to run because I'm not sure I'll have the time to do a good job of it and it's really not my area of expertise, but which I would be interested in seeing happen, is a discussion of fandom comms & platforms -- what's out there, what's still active, where the action is happening, and whether there are any ghost-comms out there that the currently-active folks might want to revive. (e.g. the "maybe we could get ds_writers going for discussions of craft" idea that has been very hypothetically bounced around a time or two.) I think this would be very valuable for the new folks (and here, I count myself as new, since I have only a very little idea of what's out there), as well as enlightening to the folks (like me) who know there's stuff going on on Tumblr etc. but don't know much about it.

ds_workshop was the place with the craft discussions, if I remember right. I think ds_writers was mostly a place to find beta readers and people to work out ideas with? Granted, it's been a TON of years, so I might be totally wrong. HOWEVER! You could TOTALLY do a post that collecting the currently active & inactive Due South places you've found on various platforms & taking suggestions for which to try to revive in the comments.

I know a lot of the trouble with Tumblr is it's impossible to find anything. This would allow Tumlbr-based fen to teach the rest of us how to find the good stuff. :)

See, this is where I'm totally the wrong person for the job. I could do a post in which I asked other people to list the places they know about, but my own knowledge is EXTREMELY limited, so I wouldn't be able to do a lot to get that particular ball rolling.

But maybe a post with some structured questions would get people to pitch in info, and I could update the top post later with a roundup of suggestions.

This is an excellent idea! I know there's are few people like me who are not really new, but getting back into more fannish activities and are looking to make new connections.

I will definitely be on the lookout for and participate in anything like that that gets posted.
