Had an idea for a new project which I thought I'd throw out there and see if anyone else is interested in participating.

This is cross-posted with my journal, so apologies if you're seeing this twice. Oh, and if you've already signed up over there, no need to here!

Maps
The journal of Benton Fraser (on an Arctic Adventure with Ray Kowalski)

Based on a map of the Northwest Passage, this is the story of Ray and Fraser's adventure to find the Hand of Franklin, told through Fraser's journal entries.

Navigating from this main map, each day there is a new entry as Benton chronicles their journey to find that reaching out hand. Each new entry - written before bed every night - is marked on the main map with a cross, and to read each entry you click on the cross and get a diary page like this one, filled with the day's goings on.

My idea is that this be a group writing project. Any authors who fancy it can sign up, and I'll designate days for people to write. It works as a cross between a ficathon and a choose-your-adventure game. Each author simply needs to read the previous chapters and then decide where they're going to take the characters in their chapter. As long as you follow what has happened so far in the story, the next step is up to you. Romance, intrigue, crime, thriller, it's your choice. Then, at the end of the chapter, it's someone else's turn to continue the tale.

Each person's entry get's a personalised diary page, like the one above, or this or this, for example, and each day we can see how the story unfolds.

Anyone else think this sounds like fun? Drop me a comment and let me know if you'd be up for playing!

I love this idea. I'm not much of a fic writer so I probably won't be participating myself, but I'd love to read what others come up with.

I'm kind of nervous about this, but it sounds a great idea and I guess I might as well take the plunge.
