Hey all! I wanted to let everyone know that I've just reorganized the Noticeboard's tags in hopes that this will make it easier for everyone to find the tags they're looking for.

Please remember to tag your posts! Thank you!


Revamped tags

I've tried to create useful tag groups, but I'm open to suggestions that fit the aim of trying to keep things as simple and user-friendly as possible.

And, as always, I'm open to suggestions, especially for simple and user-friendly categories that require little in the way of upkeep on my end. *g*


Also, a reminder about spam, as I've been getting some lately on old DS posts. If you get a spam comment on any post you've made on LJ, go to the post and look for the anti-spam icon (a circle with a slash through it). Click that to 'delete as spam' and automatically report the comment to the LJ spam team. If the page layout doesn't have the anti-spam icon, there should still be a checkbox and pulldown menu that will let you delete selected comments as spam.

I hate the fact that fk tags have to be grouped by year. It just shows how unequal this fandom is when it comes to the Rays - and it definitely should not be that way! Ray Vecchio deserves so much more fic written about him and general love from this fandom. I hate F/K taking over everything! :-(

The FK tags are grouped by year because LJ only allows 1000 entries per tag. We wanted to allow equal access to all the fic, so dividing the FK tag into yearly totals was the most fair way to do that.

ds_noticeboard has ALWAYS been a Vechio-friendly place, even when the in the midst of the Ray Wars, but for a long time the prevailing current in DS fandom swung toward FK (after years in the late 90s of it swinging FV). There has never been an anti-Vecchio policy of any kind here, and there never will be. Vecchio is awesome. But all we do here is host fic announcements; if you want more Vecchio fic, then please write it and encourage your friends to, as well.

On a historical note, right now, there's very little fic traffic of ANY pairing when compared to 2005, when there were six to ten DS stories being posted every single day. This is entirely normal, given that the DS pilot was filmed in 1994 -- seventeen years ago! Take a moment to think back seventeen years -- that's multiple epochs in fannish time. It's amazing and wonderful to me that there's ANY DS fic being produced at all these days. (Yay fandom!) If you're interested, ds_closet, which has always been a specifically FV comm, does continue to get some FV posts. Obviously I can't force those authors to repost their fic announcements here, but those stories ARE there. There are also LOTS of DS stories on the Archive of Our Own, where you can filter for your pairings of choice.

Believe me, as mods, we bend over backwards to make sure all the characters are treated with respect. No one wants a repeat of the Ray Wars, least of all me.

Hello, mods! I just posted new fic to this comm, and when I tried to tag the entry I got the message that my tagging was disallowed. The entry is dS fic for F/K pairing.

Huh. I didn't have any trouble when I clicked "edit tags" on the entry. I added FK 2016 & Het, but you ought to be able to change them if you want.

Tags are locked so only mods can create new ones. If you were trying to force a tag that wasn't on the list, that would explain it.

TYK for tagging. Must have just been something odd at my end of the tagging attempt: I had selected tags from the comm's tag-selecting menu. One of those mysteries of cyberspace....
