I saw the pilot episode at ComicCon, Sage - it was awesome. It was funny and hot and a little bit spooky and Paul just oooozed charisma with just a wee bit of menace. He's totally perfect for the role - think of a more suave & polished & darker Geoffrey Tennant, just as smart and focused with seduction just radiating from every pore.

Guh.

We can only hope... ;D The director (David Nutter, the go-to guy when you want a good pilot) and the executive producer (Maggie Friedman, very articulate & thoughtful) had nothing but good things to say about the cast really becoming their roles and that the episodes get even better (Paul made a crack about impregnating everyone, the director made noises about being worried for his manhood, hee). Which, of course they have to do the whole promotion gig, but they were just so genuine it made me actually excited to watch, which is rare for me.

The pilot had a sort of Desperate Housewives narration in the beginning, which could become a bit annoying but I was too sucked in to mind much.

Wednesday nights on ABC starting mid-September. :)

I think I'm concerned that it will end up too much like Desperate. (sorry, DH fans D:) but I remember David Nutter from his XF days, and I'm excited about that. I'm definitely willing to give it a shot, especially for Paul!

The promos I've seen also call to mind the charming sociopath from "Trojan Horse" without the unfortunate side issue of whether or not PG can write dialogue/direct himself.

Charming definitely, and sociopathic by character definition... but (at least in the pilot) he plays it very subtly. The viewer is suspicious of him, of course, because we know he's a great pretender with potentially nefarious intentions, but he comes across so genuinely you end up thinking maybe it's not so bad at all, to be the focus of his attention.

He's got some fabulous dialogue in the pilot - he must've just had a blast filming it. :)

DUDE WHO'S PLAYING THE JACK NICHOLSON ROLE: Rebecca ignored that memo asking us to all wear "a charming, small print top." WHY DIDN'T I?

PAHAHAHAHA.

And he normally makes such solid fashion choices.

I made the most *ungodly* cooing noise at this, I'll have you know.

Though Brian-all-growed-up would probably get Mouse to vet his outfit and might not end up looking so very bad.

Any takers?

I think someone needs to find a pic of Paul and Dean (who has been a frequent fugger in the past) in full RCMP kit and send it to Jessica and Heather for their personal edification.

Hmm, well, there's this one (http://www.ckr-pg-caps.net/due_south/ds_51/original/asylum_042.html), but that doesn't really convey the full puffy-pants glory of The Uniform.

I caught this panel at Comic Con, Paul looked stunned by the turnout but seemed to be enjoying himself. He looked all of 20 years old in that shirt with the sunglasses (and reading glasses) tucked in the collar but I thought it was precious XD

I couldn't get into the signing b/c it was right after, so my friend had him call me on the phone. He was really sweet, even though I was absolutely terrified! Here he is, being a total sweetheart as I stammer on the other end of the line: http://twitpic.com/bnt8a

I've been a faithful reader of GFY for years and yet this is the first time C6D shows up. Just imagine how loud I squeed while having lunch this afternoon at work and saw Paul in all his weird shirt glory (which, for afar, kinda looks like he's covered in giant black ants...)

ION, Eastwick has genearated enough good buzz for me to actually look forward to it (the preview/promo that had initially aired was eh/handwavey imho.)

Ha! That shirt is ....dubious, but he looks good in that photo - all relaxed, slim and tanned. My friend saw the pilot and said it wasn't bad at all and that Paul is excellent in it.

It really is quite an unfortunate shirt. Although I'm kind of impressed that he was let out in it.
