I haven't been reading much in Due South recently, but I'm glad I made an exception when [livejournal.com profile] makesmewannadie pointed me in the direction of [livejournal.com profile] dsudis' Wept. This isn't my kink -- in fact, in canon it's my trainwreck can't-look-away squick -- but it's testament to the flawless construction of this Fraser that I can understand why this is his kink, and be moved by it. And the tone is what I consider perfect Fraser-- despite the presence of Kowalski, it's Season 1 Fraser, who's a man first and foremost: intense and conflicted and feeling. Remember 'Victoria's Secret', when Fraser cries by the window, and despite the painful, pathetic horror of seeing him stripped raw like that, it's impossible to look away? For me, it's one of the single most powerful moments in canon. This story manages to capture the very essence of that moment-- because even though it's Ray crying, it's Fraser who feels it and knows it: what it is to be in that state of pure, awful anguish.

So, okay, this has probably been recced everywhere while I wasn't paying attention. But hey, I think it bears repeating, don't you?
