Hi all, there’s a new Canadian content channel on youtube, called encore!
it’s  here
here’s a tumblr post about it
So far it has some of due South and Slings and Arrows, and a load of C6D stuff. Looks great!

There is a new multifandom comm, the What if AU. Their first challenge is the The gang's all here"/"No-one dies AU" challenge.

The rules are pretty relaxed (no minimum word counts, no deadlines).

So if you've been wanting to AU Gardino or Irene back to life -- or, heck, dead!Bob and dead!Caroline Fraser -- have at it. Or maybe you're in a c6d mood, so why not resurrect Joe Dick -- or make it so he never died in the first place?
Note: I have nothing to do with the comm, I just noticed it and thought the challenge might appeal to some folks here.

Hello everyone!

As many of you are aware, there are concerns (many links here) regarding last month's sudden, unannounced move of LJ's servers from the US to Russia, where there are no privacy protections and no enforced legal protection for free speech. Six Apart (SUP) has been in financial trouble for some time, and, given the new circumstances, there's a fair degree of worry that LJ could be shuttered without notice.

I think it's fair to say that back in the early 2000s, LJ comms were the heart and soul of Due South fandom, and multiple people have come to me requesting that I import the communities that I mod to Dreamwidth in order to preserve our awesome fannish history against potential erasure. I am totally on board with this, because even if LJ stays around forever, it never hurts to have a backup.

Currently on the list for import:
[livejournal.com profile] ds_flashfiction
[livejournal.com profile] ds_team_angst
[livejournal.com profile] ds_team_reality
[livejournal.com profile] ds_team_romance
[livejournal.com profile] ds_team_whimsy
[livejournal.com profile] ds_workshop

These comms will be imported to Dreamwidth in about a week. None of these comms have any new/recent posts; they're being archived at Dreamwidth to preserve our fandom history. If you find, for whatever reason, that you don't want your posts to these comms backed up to Dreamwidth, just send me the links to any entries you're concerned about and they'll be removed.

What about [livejournal.com profile] ds_noticeboard, you ask? I'll be getting in touch with Ces, as founder and owner of the comm, to figure out a good solution. One of us will post more news here when we have it.

edit: okay! Ces is on board with importing [livejournal.com profile] ds_noticeboard as well. Again, this will be happening in about a week. Preserving fandom history FTW!

Hi, and apologies if this is old news. IMDB now has a good, close-up photo of Ravinder Toor, who played Andreas Volpe in "Asylum".

Take a look, get inspired, write something new about Kowalski / Volpe. (Just a suggestion...)

If you didn't see the OTW's post, the Due South Archive is going to be imported into the Archive of Our Own very soon!

Here's how the Open Doors committee, who are in charge of protecting and importing existing archives, describe the import as working:

All works archived on the behalf of a creator will include their name in the byline or the summary of the work. As we import works, we will e-mail notifications to the address associated with the work. Before we import, we'll do our best to check the AO3 for an existing copy. If we find one, we will invite it to the collection instead of importing it.

All imported works will be set to be viewable only by logged-in AO3 users. Once you claim your works, you can make them publicly-viewable if you choose. After 30 days, all unclaimed imported works will be made visible to all visitors.

Please contact Open Doors with your Due South Archive pseud(s) and e-mail address(es), if:

* You'd like us to import your works, but you need the notification sent to a different email address than you used on the original archive
* You already have an AO3 account and have imported your works already yourself.
* You’d like to import your works yourself (including if you don’t have an AO3 account yet).
* You would NOT like your works moved to the AO3.
* You are happy for us to preserve your works on the AO3, but would like us to remove your name.

You can contact the Open Doors Committee by clicking on that link, or you can email me, Speranza, for help at cesperanza at gmail or speranza at trickster dot org!

Inspired by the recent post at [livejournal.com profile] ds_flashfiction, I would like to import [livejournal.com profile] the_ckr_files into Dreamwidth as a protection against LJ doing away with it for lack of current activity.

If anyone has a post there and doesn't want it to be part of the import, please PM me by June 30th with the post URL and I will remove it.

Hello, LJ/DW fans!  (We few, we proud...)

We haven't been seeing much traffic over at [livejournal.com profile] ds_snippets, so the mods are taking stock to decide whether to keep running the weekly challenges or regretfully close up shop.

If you have opinions on this topic, please join in the discussion.  (And hey, while you're over there, how about writing a snippet based on one of this week's prompts? :) )

March 11th continues to approach, and festivities are already starting. The one and only Desiree put up the collection for everyone to post to, so go ahead and post. Tell all your friends. The more the merrier.

Remember - anything goes. Music, artwork, scat - hang on. That's my son being inappropriate in the background. Ignore him. It's my bad influence.

(Almost) anything goes. Barring scat, of course. Anything else, post here:

Apologies, but I'm not quite sure what category to use for tags.

I bring this here, as it is good to see our beloved shows are remembered.

The website TV,eh?, a site about Canadian television, is running a poll. The questions is: What TV shows best defines Canada?

Due South and Slings and Arrows are two of the options.

Interested in taking part? The poll is located here.
