It's flower crown time! The AO3 collection is now revealed; the fest will be running through Monday, so be sure to go see what people add over the next few days!

It's that time of year again! Flower Crown Day/Weekend will run from February 11-14 this year. Please bring your favorite characters, actors, etc, all dressed up in flowers! Any flora-themed fanworks are welcome (including both floral-themed works and works featuring leaf crowns and other plantlife).

Rules can be found in the AO3 collection, but the tl;dr of it is please play nicely with each other, and make sure your entries are shareable (don't f lock your entries or put up a vid and not provide the password, basically).

Flower Crown Day/Weekend entries can be posted to any platform you like, but if you post somewhere other than to the AO3 collection please be sure to post a link: a) to twitter using the hashtag #flowercrown22, or b) directly to the

dsvirtualbar dreamwidth comm.

ETA: a last minute change!! There's a cool virtual charity event going on this weekend (details) that David Marciano will be attending, so we've decided to extend the fest to last the whole week building up to the event! (And a little time after, too, in case anyone feels inspired post-event!) The AO3 collection will now close next Monday morning instead of on September 22nd.

Friends! We're now just six short weeks out from RayV Day, and I can't wait to see what folks come up with this year!

There are a few changes to the fest this year - please take a look at the announcement post for details. The long and short of it is that I'm restricting the fest to just AO3 and the

dsvirtualbar comm, and also won't be putting together a community-generated work or a round up post.

Another change, however, is that this year we're doing optional prompts! If you have a cool Ray Vecchio or David Marciano themed prompt, please come comment on this post with it for our creators to peruse!

For everyone who's looking for due South themed prompts to fill, this is just a kindly reminder that the Summer Swap is still ongoing and you can find a nice list of prompts on the collection waiting to get filled. Anyone can write a gift fic or make an gift art and post it on the collection, you don't need to be signed up to to the summer exchange to post a treat. We've had a bunch of enquiries about whether the due South/Canadian Six Degrees Big Bang is running again this year. The answer is YES!! and we're very excited about it! Sign up to join in and create a fic of 20K, or equivalent art, podfic, vids, craft, or any other medium you can shake a stick at.

ds_c6d_bigbang .We'll be running monthly live chats over on our discord like last year, and the channel's always open, so come on over whenever you want to shout about due South and related fandoms.

Flower Crown Day will be on Valentine's Day weekend this year, and is now open to all fandoms! Go forth and make floral-themed fanworks featuring any characters, actors, settings, etc, your heart desires, and then bring them back to help light up everyone’s day. Fic (long or short!), art, manips, fibercraft: whatever you want to make is welcome!

Calling for Pinch Hitters!

It's pinch hitter time! All volunteers are welcome -- you do not have to be signed up for dSSS to pinch hit -- if you can pinch hit to write fic, make fanart, podfic, or vid, please volunteer to help!

A pinch hitter steps in to fulfill a request if a participant has to drop out. Hopefully everyone will turn in their assignments as planned, but if RL emergencies arise, that’s when the mods bring in a pinch hitter. This can happen at any time, including at the last minute, which means sometimes pinch hitters have a very short deadline to work.
