Superpowers and the "due South" universe - Discuss!

So, the folks in due South don't actually have special powers, Stetson of Invulnerability aside.  But what if?

What if they were born with powers, abilities, or attributes beyond human?  What if they woke up to a "choosing" of some sort from capricious gods or aliens or fae?

Who would get what powers if things were fair?  Who would overcome harmful abilities and figure out how to use them for good?  Who would totally use levitation to drop people's pants around their ankles?  Who should never, ever, under ANY circumstances get super speed?  Who can fly and how do they do it?

Choose a character from dS or another part of the C6D multiverse.  Talk about their powers, how they got them, and what they do with them.  Disagree with other people if you like.  (You can choose a character someone else has already done.)

Alternatively, rec fic or art here in which someone's got superpowers of some sort!

Oooh, I want to see what powers people would give Dief! I don't really know what powers they would/should have, but I like the idea of them getting powers that they totally don't know how to control at first, so you've got like a confused, levitating Frannie or Elaine accidentally breaking everything with super-strength or Fraser phasing into random people's apartments and then apologizing profusely and high-tailing it out of there.

In terms of recs, there's this one (http://archiveofourown.org/works/800779) where they choose Ray K as Ray V's replacement because he can use magic to look like someone else.

I believe Dief would have the power to read minds and influence thoughts. Mostly to get doughnuts, but occasionally for the greater good.

Yes!

I figure it's part of Dief's ability to influence thoughts - he doesn't exactly "speak" to Fraser, just implants what he's thinking into Fraser's mind. Fraser may sometimes interpret things a little too much toward his own point, which makes Dief grumble a lot. Sometimes, Fraser does this on purpose.

I like this idea, especially the interrogation part!

That is so cool! I love fierce Frannie.

I've had this image in my head for years, where Dief and Fraser have the ability to swap certain physical senses. Specifically, Dief can "borrow" Fraser's hearing -- and while he's using it, Fraser will be mostly deaf for the duration. And Fraser can borrow Dief's sense of smell. Both sense swaps always happen together -- and neither Dief's manners nor his sense of timing are always what one might wish -- so Fraser can be going about his business and suddenly lose his hearing and be brain-blasted with overwhelming olfactory input (machines, people, perfumes, cleaning products, garbage, all dialed up to 11). And since either of them can initiate the swap without the other's consent, there's opportunity for passive-aggressive sense-swapping and snark as well as considerable humor. At the same time, when they're focused on a purpose -- getting the bad guys, or rescuing some one -- they can be fantastically effective in their teamwork.

I never had a plot to go with it. I just enjoy the idea.

Oh, I wish I could think of a plot bunny for that one!

My fave for dS superheroes is Captain Canada : the First (Canadian) Avenger (http://archiveofourown.org/works/529353/chapters/937901) by [livejournal.com profile] ria_oaks. Fic and art!

Hello Beetle and Booster, can I raise you Danny and Luke?

*g*

Uhm, I can't think of anything useful to say that actually features dueSouth and not a guy whose civilian clothes make him look like one of the Village People and his best friend just wanders around in costume all day and every day (and you better not touch his silk shirts).
