Back in May I took a turn at driving the crack_van and I had some difficulty figuring out which stories had already been recced.



Crack_van has switched over to using tags, which is normally great, but when there are more than 300 entries under the due South tag, it's kinda clunky to look for a particular author or story.

julia_here and I briefly talked about the issue, and magician113 from the Sentinel fandom gave me some excellent pointers, but I went with del.icio.us once I saw how easy it was.

So, everything that's ever been recced for due South at crack_van has been compiled into:

dS crack_van links

The links are broken down into tags for author, month/year recced, extra fandoms (crossovers), pairing, reccer, and vids. Thanks to isiscolo and Wilby Links and Slings & Arrows Links for inspiration.

If you run across any mistakes or broken links, please drop me a note at akaminechan at gmail dot com.

As I have the time, I'll try to find new links to repair any broken ones. Some of the older stories have been moved but the links don't reflect that...comments and suggestions are appreciated.

And if you have the time, sign up for crack_van; they always need more drivers.

If you go in through memories (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=crack_van) instead of the tags, you can still access a more user-friendly list.

I like the tags for ease of finding the newest recs, but not so much for a quick once-over. :-p

But the mods at crack_van aren't using the memories any more - from now on, they're only using tags. That was the issue.

The very last thing that went into memories was a rec by eledhwenlin in March - anything new has gone into tags, not memories...

Oh, bless you! I've been hung up on this project for weeks- many reasons, none particularly major but overwhelming en masse- and now I find this was available all the time.

Restoring a few broken links is part of what I want to do next month as an "additional stuff at my journal" link on my rec posts; I'm also going to post (again, on my journal, linked from Crash Van) orderly links to at least one long series which is out-of-order on the due South Fiction Archive as an extra.

Well, I didn't think about using del.icio.us until after we'd had our little discussion in May and I waited, but I was learning how to use del.icio.us and it was so easy...so I just went ahead and finished. If you've got suggestions on how to improve what I've done or broken links to fix, let me know...
