I haven't seen it in eons; I saw the Liz Taylor/Richard Burton film & yeah,
not a fun time... Once was enough for me, like with War of the Roses! But
maybe that's because the latter just reminded me of my parents' horrible
marriage & divorce (which was actually worse than the film's, involving
police, orders of protection, surrender of weapons...) & my father
ironically was a tenured college professor, sigh... Didn't stop him going
bonkers (not that he wasn't already halfway there; not that my mom didn't
have serious grounds for divorce).
As you can imagine, I am not a big fan of domestic dramas about terrible
marriages.
I haven't seen most of PGs latest stuff, actually, except the mini series
he did with Allen Hawco, & The Middle Man... so I can't speak whether or
not he plays sympathetic characters much these days.
